Microsoft have called me. ( No, they have not ) - ** PLEASE READ **

Here is a warning I ran in the Hadleigh Community news a few years ago. It is even more relevant today.

'Over the past 8 - 10 weeks I have been called out to various people in the local area who have been phoned by a company claiming that "your home computer has a virus". Their claim is that Microsoft have informed them you have a virus and they have been instructed to call you and remove the virus. Many people have paid up to £199.99p and then allowed the company to access their machine remotely ( remote access ). With this remote access open on your p.c. you allow them into your machine free to do look at, and do, whatever they choose. Many people have said they have been logged on for as long as 3 hours, you only need a few minutes to gain records to your history etc.

After this you will then need to inform your bank and credit card companies of what has happened to prevent fraud, if it's not too late already.

If you have had this service offered to you and taken it, then please contact me. If you receive a phone call offering you this service, please hang up on them, they are persistent so please do not be worried about hanging up on them, and there is no way of them knowing any of the information they mention. '

Hope this information is of use.
